The Islamic Republic of Iran benefits from a wide range of heritage places, from cultural to natural aspects, tangible and intangible dating back from pre-historic era to modern times. Each single site playing a vital role in the being of Iranian civilization along with their engaged intangible qualities inherited down to the current generation.

**The legal framework on cultural heritage conservation** \\ \\
The Iranian heritage sites, based on each case, can be of private or public ownership; despite which, all are considered having mutual heritage for all human generations and are protected under national and international acts. The greater supervision of legal frameworks to be applied on every single aspects of the sites is executed by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts via local, regional and national bodies of the main management system. A detailed description of legal tools in place, is provided within the World Heritage Nomination of each site.

**The cultural and natural sites on the World Heritage List** \\ \\
The approach adopted towards inscribing heritage sites on the World Heritage List by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts is to present as much possible valuable sites with various aspects of significance, essence, date, function, etc., from archaeological sites to cultural landscapes and vast natural sites. Although there are plenty of well-known sites having a great influence on the history of the world which are already inscribed on the [[https://whc.unesco.org/en/statesparties/IR|UNESCO World Heritage List]] of the Islamic Republic of Iran; yet, there is still a lot to be presented and shared with the world.
